How the data is used

ERIC North East provides an information service for a wide variety of individuals and organisations who need access to data to underpin their work, research or interest. This includes:

  • Working in partnership with the voluntary recording community
  • Monitoring of species and habitats in a particular area by nature conservation organisations and local Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) processes
  • Monitoring and setting of regional and local targets for biodiversity and environmental indicators
  • Informing development control planning and strategic planning to ensure that biodiversity and the law are taken into account
  • Informing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
  • Informing site management
  • Informing research and education
